EXTEND Trial
About
The EXTEND trial is a trial comparing two antibiotic treatment strategies for patients with complicated intra-abdominal infection. The two strategies are standard treatment, as decided by treating clinicians, and a fixed-extended-duration of 28 days antibiotics. The trial will start recruiting participants in July 2022.

Associate PI Scheme
The EXTEND team are seeking colleagues, including trainees from ITU, Surgery and Microbiology to recruit to the EXTEND trial, and work alongside research nurses. It is hoped that trainees getting involved in the trial will do so whilst completing the Associate Principal Investigator (API) scheme.
